Thank you all for your support in November, I appreciate your vote of confidence in me. I am proud to represent the people of Napa, Solano, Sonoma, Mendocino, Lake, and Humboldt counties in the State Senate. It is an honor to have this opportunity to serve my community and the people of this great state.
I am running for re-election in the State Senate to continue the work that I began in 2004 when voters first elected me to the State Assembly. Over the past six years, I am proud of my accomplishments, which include creating green jobs locally, fighting for children and families, protecting the environment and reforming the legal system. The most important imperative facing our community today is to create sustainable, well-paying jobs. Whether its new clean-tech jobs like solar panel manufacturing and installation or incubating and growing local green industries, putting our community back to work will be one of my top priorities.
As the Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee 2008, I was the legislative point person working to preserve basic human services and prevent extremists from using this economic crisis to reverse many of California’s most valued policy achievements, such as our decades-old commitment to public education. The 2009 session exposed the inherent flaws in our revenue system and our budgeting process. It is here where our state needs the most reform. The extreme difficulty of this past legislative session and our unfinished work has inspired me to continue my quest for change. As your state Senator, I pledge to work to:
We are at a pivotal time in our state’s political history; I have the legislative and life experiences to best serve the interests of District 2 residents. We have much to accomplish. I hope you will continue supporting my campaign for re-election to the state Senate, so together we can keep on working to make our community and our state a better place to live.
