This support means a great deal to me because it recognizes my recent leadership during the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. We've dealt with an enormous crisis in California and members of these organizations were among the hardest hit by the tough choices that were necessary to keep our state running. These are the hardworking men and women whose jobs have been cut back and the vulnerable children, disabled and seniors who saw their services reduced because of the economic crisis. I am thankful that they value my efforts to fight back against the Governor's attempts to completely shut down state services and my efforts to keep this state on the right track to recovery in the face of a worldwide economic downturn. You are the people I have fought for and you are the people I will continue to fight for in the State Senate. Thank you for your support.
 
Unfortunately, other candidates in this race are trying to use California's economic crisis as an opportunity to further their own political ambitions. While criticizing the tough choices sitting legislators had to make last year, other candidates have failed to present viable alternatives and are instead trying to create divisions among those who depend upon state services. During these difficult times, we don't need division and anger - we need real solutions, hard work, and cooperation. If we are to bring our state back to recovery, we must all work together for our collective future.
